Job Purpose:

The IT Security Analyst will play a critical role in safeguarding the organisation’s IT infrastructure, systems, and data from cyber threats and vulnerabilities. You will support the IT Security Manager in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures and will proactively monitor security incidents and threats.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Monitoring and Incident Response:

  • Monitor IT security systems, including SIEM solutions, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), firewalls, and endpoint security tools.
  • Investigate security alerts, incidents, and breaches, ensuring timely resolution and escalation as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports on security incidents, threats, and trends.

Risk Assessment and Management:

  • Conduct periodic security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
  • Analyse vulnerabilities and recommend remediation plans.
  • Assist with risk assessments and provide detailed reports to management.

Security Controls and Compliance:

  • Maintain and enhance IT security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits ensuring compliance with ISO27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of security awareness programmes.

Technical Support:

  • Provide guidance and advice on security best practices to IT teams and other stakeholders.
  • Configure and maintain security tools, including antivirus, anti-malware, DLP (Data Loss Prevention), and encryption solutions.
  • Collaborate with network and systems teams to secure infrastructure and cloud environments.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Keep abreast of emerging security threats, trends, and technologies.
  • Proactively propose improvements to enhance security posture.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in IT security or cybersecurity roles.
  • Solid understanding of security frameworks (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST).
  • Experience with security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewall management, vulnerability scanning).
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Desirable:

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+.
  • Experience in regulated environments (financial services, telecommunications, healthcare).

Job Overview:

The Data Security Manager will oversee and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organisation’s data security strategies, policies, and controls. This role requires a highly motivated and experienced individual, capable of ensuring compliance with relevant UK/EU data protection regulations (GDPR, UK DPA), industry standards, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve data security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with regulatory and business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and other relevant legislation, including conducting regular compliance audits and managing remediation actions.
  • Lead data security risk assessments, data protection impact assessments (DPIA), and third-party risk evaluations.
  • Develop and deliver data security awareness training and education programmes across the organisation.
  • Act as the primary contact for data security incidents, managing incident response processes, including reporting, investigation, remediation, and lessons learned.
  • Work closely with IT, Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure coordinated approaches to data security.
  • Monitor industry best practices and regulatory updates, providing recommendations to leadership on relevant security improvements.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and third-party service providers related to data security.
  • Oversee data classification processes, encryption management, and data loss prevention (DLP) tools and solutions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields. A Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in information/data security, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership position.
  • Deep understanding of UK/EU data protection laws (GDPR, DPA).
  • Proven experience managing data security programmes and frameworks in complex organisations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk management, incident response, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with data security technologies including encryption, DLP tools, and identity/access management systems.
